Santoshpur Loknath Utsav Samity To Observe Three Day Commemorative Festival
Santoshpur Loknath Utsav Samity located in South Kolkata, a charitable organization that preaches the teachings of Loknath Baba, the revered Bengali Saint, will organize a three day festival to observe the 119th commemorative anniversary of Loknath Baba. The three day festival will commence on the 15th of January and continue till the 17th of January, 2010. The three day long celebrations will start with a procession by devotees which will move through the neighbourhood of Santoshpur, glorifying Loknath Baba’s feats. The procession will commence at 7 A.M on the 15th of January. At 5 P.M on the first day of the Loknath Baba festival, the Holy lamp will be lit followed by the rendition of devotional songs by famed artists from 6 P.M. On the 16th of January, the second day of the Lokanath Baba Anniversary Festival devotional songs glorifying the preaching of Loknath Baba will be sung by renowned performers. At 10 P.M on the same day a special Puja will be performed. On the 17th of January, the third day of the festival the celebrations will commence at 5 in the morning with recitations from the Chandi and the Gita. At 9 A.M the organizers will distribute the Balya Bhog or Prasad which are offerings in the form of hodgepodge or a mixed preparation of dal and rice with vegetables. From 12 in the afternoon special prayers will be performed for ensuring World Peace. The distribution of Maha Bhog will start at 4 P.M. From 6 P.M songs dedicated to Loknath Baba will be sung by famed artists.
Santoshpur Loknath Utsav Samity located in South Kolkata has also started the construction of a temple where devotees can pay their respect to Loknath Baba, one of the greatest Spiritual Ledaers of Bengal.

Talking to exoticecho.com Malay Das, Secretary of Santoshpur Loknath Utsav Samity, revealed that for the past 22nd year the festival has been conducted with great success with devotees participating in the event at Santoshpur in large numbers and this year will see the 23rd year of the festival. He further said that currently Loknath Baba is worshipped in a temporary structure and a temple will come up soon to facilitate Loknath Baba’s worship.
