NSCN-Centre discussions in Delhi from today July 16: The next phase of peace discussions between the representatives of the Centre as well as leaders of the NSCN-IM will take place in New Delhi from Friday to chalk out a satisfactory resolution of the prolonged Naga political divergence. NSCN-IM general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah as well as other leading members of the group will take part in the deliberations, according to outfit sources.
Muivah concluded his almost one-and-a-half-month-long 'peace mission' by organizing the final public rally at Jalukie in Peren district of Nagaland.Embarking on the peace objective in early June, he toured several regions of Nagaland as well as held talks with the populace at grass-roots stage.

Back Meghalaya’s grand socio economic growth venture for small, marginal cultivators
May 7: With the aim of offering assistance to the small as well as marginal cultivators in Meghalaya, the Meghalaya United Alliance MUA government is adopting a grand socio economic growth venture.
The state chief minister Dr Mukul Sangma while addressing newspersons in the state capital Shillong on Friday revealed that a total of 5000 rupees would be offered to those small as well as marginal cultivators as seed money. Dr Mukul Sangma observed that about 30,000 families would be offered assistance under the venture.
The chief minister further stated that his government favours the growth of pisciculture and would like to augment the cultivation of fish in the state. Dr Sangma added that the state government would make an effort to offer support to more than 8000 people engaged in fish cultivation all through the present fiscal.
Back ULFA leader told to consider recommendations
April 21: A group comprising intellectuals from Assam established to make easy the progress of negotiations between the Indian government and the radical unit ULFA, on Wednesday urged the rebel outfit’s self-proclaimed military chief Paresh Barua to study the group's recommendations prior to giving comments to the media.
Dr Hiren Gohain, leading the group comprising eleven members observed in Guwahati, "If Barua honours the constitution of the ULFA; he should wait until conditions are suitable for a meeting of central committee leaders, in a situation free from constraints, before rushing to the press".
On 19th April, Barua had condemned the activities of the intellectuals in finding a solution to the problems faced by Assam and avowed that there was no scope for concession on the topic of autonomy. Barua had made these observations via an e-mail sent to the media in Guwahati.
Back Sangma takes oath as new chief minister of Meghalaya
April 20: Mukul Sangma has taken the oath as the 22nd Chief Minister of Meghalaya on Tuesday, a day following the resignation of D D Lapang from the position and ending a revolt lasting for a month by a bulk of the 28 Congress legislators. B M Lanong, an MLA belonging to the United Democratic Party (UDP), a vital partner of the Congress, took the oath as deputy chief minister.
The government led by Sangma would be the 22nd in the state in the past 38 years as the 11th in the preceding 10 years. The revolt by Congress MLAs that lasted for a month reached the climax on 17th April when the 45 year old Sangma along with rebel Congress legislators made a rush to New Delhi with the argument that Lapang no longer enjoyed support from the greater part of the Congress MLAs.
The event took place subsequent to a day when 20 Congress MLAs in the 60-member House convened at Sangma's house and guaranteed their loyalty towards him.

Dr. Mukul Sangma another veteran leader of the Congress belonging to the west Garo hills district is expected to be chosen as the leader replacing Dr Lapang .The government under the guidance of Dr. Lapang that functioned for eleven months encountered difficulties following the rebellion of over a dozen MLAs against his leadership on the topic associated with cabinet berths.
